This is incredibly well stated. I am delivering a Colnago Titanio I converted into a fixie. The virgin ride for the owner is tomorrow and I am going to quote this fine post in my blog article that I am writing to document the ride.

Nice article. I ride a single speed mountain bike (freewheel), but there are definitely some similarities--many tribes, one nation, right? The simplicity is great, maintenance is easy, and I get just a bit (Okay a lot) of a kick out of lapping folks with gears. ;o)
