The LPC Lady Hawks continued their hunt for the playoffs with an easy 3-1 victory over the Shasta College Knights on Oct. 10.
"I think that we have the talent and ability to make it to the playoffs," said Hawks forward Ashley Arslanian.
"We played more aggresively in the second half, and moved the ball a lot more as well," said Lady Hawks head coach Sissi do Amor. "I'm very happy with the team, there are a lot of good things going on right now. We need more practice---the team seems to panic a little in front of the goal, but were playing good."
The Lady Hawks played a very offensive game. They kept the ball near Shasta's goal for most of the match. The first goal was put in by number 14 Cerena Johnson after the ball was kicked off the goal post twice. At the end of the first half, the Lady Hawks were tied 1-1.
They came back into the second half playing a lot harder and it seemed like they were playing a bit smarter. They were passing the ball more and linking their plays a lot better. The second goal to be scored by the Hawks was a placement kick that bounced off one of Shasta's players and rolled into the goal. Arslanian put in the third goal to secure the victory for the Hawks.
With a current record of 9-2-2, the Lady Hawks look like they could very easily be going to the playoffs this year. If they are able to maintain their aggressive offensive and the solid defense then they should be able demolish the rest of the teams that they have yet to play. If that becomes the case, then definitely be on the lookout in the near future for the Hawks to be in the playoffs.
