On Feb. 20, Las Positas College's Black Student Union (BSU) held a presentation on Black History Month in the Student Center on LPC. BSU invited Asale Kimaada from the group Grandmothers Who Help to talk about the contributions African-Americans have made over the years.
She gave a wealth of information on everyone from W.E.D. DeBois to Garret Morgan, who invented the stoplight.
" I thought it was very informative. I learned about a black scientist who invented the first outer space toilet for astronauts, which I didn't know about," said BSU advisor, Karen Zeigler. Kimaada even went on to explain why Black History Month is held in Feb. The reason being that Frederick Douglas, W. E. B. DuBois, Abraham Lincoln and many important people and events, were born and took place in the month.
