Quickly diverting back to subject at hand, Wilkonson talks about Team Sleep and their tour. As a side-project of the Deftones lead singer, Chino Moreno, Team Sleep caters to the sleepy slow abstract people in the world by taking softer and melodic approach to making music.
"Chino and I began messing around with 2 guitars and a 4-track recorder back in the day," said Wilkonson, guitarist of Team Sleep, "None of this was really intentional, we were doing it just to make music."
Almost a decade later and the addition of several other musicians, Team Sleep released their self-titled album in Spring 2005 and began playing shows around the country shortly after. Two years later, Team Sleep is touring again.
Despite Internet rumors, Wilkonson says that Team Sleep is not making another album. "If anything, we'll just be releasing singles and eps," said Wilkonson, "We are in a really good position to just make music. We don't have please anybody at all. If you like our stuff, 'cool!' If you don't, 'oh well.'"
The tour began on Nov. 29 in Orangevalle, Calif. and will end in San Francisco in Dec. 16. The tour features Sonny (former vocalist for From First to Last), Strata and Monsters in the Machine.
